Dubai, Abu Dhabi - 07 Mar 2024 to 13 Mar 2024

When we think of Dubai, the wealth of the city immediately comes to mind. Today, the city, which is known as the 'financial center' of the world, has a population of about 3 million people. In short, Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  The city has grown rapidly over the past 50 years. From a small port with a fishing industry as its main occupation, to a bustling metropolis with grand buildings, Dubai is now facing a major challenge. The desert surrounding the emirate is now swallowing up even its fertile land.  The United Arab Emirates is a country the size of Portugal, but 80% of its land is desert. And this desertification is constantly increasing, and even fertile land is becoming barren.  According to a government report released in 2019, "On one hand, the population is growing rapidly, which has increased the demand for food, and land degradation and desertification are occurring on a large scale." Therefore, stopping this desertification and making barren land productive is a priority.  Dubai is a place that tourists from all over the world visit. I also got the opportunity to go to Dubai because of the insistence of my friends. Kolhapur's 'Heaven Travellers' had organized a 'Dubai-Abu Dhabi' trip from January 16 to January 22, 2024.

===

Abu Dhabi is located on an island in the Persian Gulf, off the west coast of the United Arab Emirates, in the central part of the country. The city covers an area of 67,340 square kilometers and has a population of about 860,000 (2008).  Abu Dhabi, city and capital of Abu Dhabi emirate, one of the United Arab Emirates (formerly Trucial States, or Trucial Oman), and the national capital of that federation. The city occupies most of a small triangular island of the same name, just off the Persian Gulf coast and connected to the mainland by a short bridge. Abu Dhabi was formerly an undeveloped town of only local importance, but the emirate's oil revenues enabled it to evolve into a modern city with a fully developed infrastructure.
