Dubai, Abu Dhabi - 07 Mar 2024 to 13 Mar 2024

When we think of Dubai, the wealth of the city immediately comes to mind. Today, the city, which is known as the 'financial center' of the world, has a population of about 3 million people. In short, Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  The city has grown rapidly over the past 50 years. From a small port with a fishing industry as its main occupation, to a bustling metropolis with grand buildings, Dubai is now facing a major challenge. The desert surrounding the emirate is now swallowing up even its fertile land.  The United Arab Emirates is a country the size of Portugal, but 80% of its land is desert. And this desertification is constantly increasing, and even fertile land is becoming barren.  According to a government report released in 2019, "On one hand, the population is growing rapidly, which has increased the demand for food, and land degradation and desertification are occurring on a large scale." Therefore, stopping this desertification and making barren land productive is a priority.  Dubai is a place that tourists from all over the world visit. I also got the opportunity to go to Dubai because of the insistence of my friends. Kolhapur's 'Heaven Travellers' had organized a 'Dubai-Abu Dhabi' trip from January 16 to January 22, 2024.

===

Abu Dhabi is located on an island in the Persian Gulf, off the west coast of the United Arab Emirates, in the central part of the country. The city covers an area of 67,340 square kilometers and has a population of about 860,000 (2008).  Abu Dhabi, city and capital of Abu Dhabi emirate, one of the United Arab Emirates (formerly Trucial States, or Trucial Oman), and the national capital of that federation. The city occupies most of a small triangular island of the same name, just off the Persian Gulf coast and connected to the mainland by a short bridge. Abu Dhabi was formerly an undeveloped town of only local importance, but the emirate's oil revenues enabled it to evolve into a modern city with a fully developed infrastructure.

The Puranas and Chinese history both contain numerous noteworthy references to Indian habitation in this area. The Malay Peninsula is known as the Golden Island in the Puranas. In the second century BC, a few courageous Indians traveled to this area to engage in trade. Large empires were not founded in several locations because of the region's barren lands. In the second century, an Indian kingdom known as Lanka Ashoka was founded in the northeastern portion of the peninsula. This kingdom grew in a matter of years. In the third century, the Indochina kingdom of Funan overran it, capturing nearly the whole northern portion of the peninsula. In the sixth century, it regained its freedom.

---

Following their expulsion from Malaysia, Lee Kuan Yew became Singapore's first prime minister when the Republic of Singapore was proclaimed an independent nation on August 9, 1965. Singapore was extremely impoverished when it gained independence in 1963. Singapore was a British colony for a long time, just like other Asian nations. However, Singapore guided its nation to tremendous progress after gaining its independence. Today, Singapore is regarded as a wealthy nation. where a millionaire lives in every sixth home. It surpasses superpowers like the US, France, and the UK in terms of GDP per capita. This nation is predicted to have the highest number of millionaires worldwide by 2030.  Alongside the expansion of the global economy, Singapore has also made progress toward development. Singapore's economy expanded at a rate of almost 10 percent annually during the first 20 years. In the past, Singapore engaged in trading in rubber, tin, and spices. Later on, it began to manufacture pharmaceuticals as well. Singapore had developed a sizable industrial base by 1975. Manufacturing now accounts for 22% of the GDP, up from 14% in 1965. The majority of Singaporeans are wealthy today. The Singaporean government estimates that 89.7 out of 100 people will purchase their own home in Singapore by 2023. In a few years, this percentage will rise to 100%, and in comparison to other nations, this one will also have the greatest number of millionaires.

Tour to Japan - 05-OCT-2024 to 12-OCT-2024 >>>>>>>>>>>>

Tour to Japan - 05-OCT-2024 to 12-OCT-2024

Japan is country comprising of culture that can be traced back by centuries and is also very distinct from that of other cultures in the world. Japan is known to the world as the land of the Samurai and also of Buddism. Buddhism was first introduced to Japan from Baekje of Korea, but the subsequent development of Japanese Buddhism was primarily influenced by China. Despite early resistance, Buddhism was promoted by the ruling class and gained widespread acceptance beginning in the period of King Asoka of India. The Second World War marks the great twist in Japan’s course as it was part of Axis powers of Germany and Italy. On December 7, 1941, Japanese forces carried out surprise attacks on Pearl Harbor, attacks on British forces in Malaya, Singapore, and Hong Kong and declared war, bringing the US and the UK into World War II in the Pacific. After the Soviet invasion of Manchuria and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, Japan agreed to an unconditional surrender on August 15. The war cost Japan and the rest of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere millions of lives and left much of the nation's industry and infrastructure destroyed.

In 1947, Japan adopted a new constitution emphasizing liberal democratic practices. The Allied occupation ended with the Treaty of San Francisco in 1952 and Japan was granted membership in the United Nations in 1956. Japan later achieved rapid growth to become the second-largest economy in the world, until surpassed by China in 2010. This ended in the mid-1990s when Japan suffered a major recession. In the beginning of the 21st century, positive growth has signaled a gradual economic recovery. On March 11, 2011, Japan suffered the strongest earthquake in its recorded history; this triggered the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, one of the worst disasters in the history of nuclear power.

Japan's population is estimated at around 127 million, with 80% of the population living on Honshū. Japanese society is linguistically and culturally homogeneous, composed of 98.5% ethnic Japanese, with small populations of foreign workers. Zainichi Koreans, Zainichi Chinese, Filipinos, Brazilians mostly of Japanese descent, and Peruvians mostly of Japanese descent are among the small minority groups in Japan. Japan has the second longest overall life expectancy at birth of any country in the world: 84.4 years. The Japanese population is rapidly aging as a result of a post–World War II baby boom followed by a decrease in birth rates. The changes in demographic structure have created a number of social issues, particularly a potential decline in workforce population and increase in the cost of social security benefits like the public pension plan. A growing number of younger Japanese are not marrying or remain childless.

Urban/ Rural Population: Japan is a majorly urbanized population with 93.5% of the total population (2015) living in urban areas. Major urban areas, with respect to population, are Tokyo, Osaka-Kobe, Nagoya, Kitakyushu-Fukuoka, Shizuoka-Hamamatsu and Sapporo (2015).

Gender Statistics: As per the World Population Prospects (By United Nations), in 2015 the country's population was 126,573,481, of which 61,558,578 were male and 65,014,903 were female. The population distribution for Japan by gender and age groups.   Japan has full religious freedom based on Article 20 of its Constitution. Upper estimates suggest that 84–96 percent of the Japanese population subscribe to Buddhism or Shinto, including a large number of followers of a syncretism of both religions. However, these estimates are based on people affiliated with a temple, rather than the number of true believers. Fewer than one percent of Japanese are Christian. Other minority religions include Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Judaism, and since the mid-19th century numerous new religious movements have emerged in Japan.
